Caleb Byers delivered a standout performance at Teretonga Park, showing strong pace from the outset of round three of the TA2 NZ Championship. Byers carried that form through the weekend to secure the overall round win.

On the Friday’s practice Byers was the only driver to set several impressive sub-60 second laps in both sessions at the fast and flowing Southland circuit.

Byers secured pole by six tenths in wet and difficult qualifying session. In race one, Caleb Byers led from start to finish to claim victory by more than 6 seconds, then in race two Byers would finish 8 seconds ahead of the nearest rival, underlining his speed and car control in challenging conditions.

The Teretonga round, held from 23–25 January 2026, formed part of the official TA2 NZ Championship calendar, with wet and changeable conditions adding extra complexity across the weekend.

Byers maintained his composure throughout the remaining races, managing the conditions and the reverse-grid challenge to bank the points needed for overall honours. The result capped an impressive weekend for the Canterbury driver against a competitive field.

Byers said he was pleased with both the car and the way the team handled the changing conditions across the weekend. “The car was strong all weekend and I was able to build confidence quickly in the conditions. In the final race, it was about managing the tyres, staying consistent and making sure we came away with the points we needed.”
